Financial Fortitude
Financial Fortitude is an Economic Development initiative under Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.'s Five-Point Program Thrust. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.'s national Financial Fortitude initiative is a program that helps participants develop and implement financial plans, managing all aspects of their personal finances. Financial Fortitude is designed to assist Sorors and their local communities realize the overarching goal of personal wealth and financial security through an understanding of the basic principles of: goal setting, financial planning, budgeting, debt management, savings and investments, retirement planning, homeownership and insurance. All programs are designed to teach participants how make their money work for them.

"Paint the Town Red" - Tax preparation
Tax Preparation in conjunction with the DC Earned Income Tax Campaign (DC EITC) for Tax Season 2009 (Jan-April 2009) preparing taxes for low income families in the District of Columbia metropolitan area. The Sorority 'Painted the Town Red' for the Voter Registration Drive and will do the same for this upcoming tax season. No experience necessary regardless of your profession. Training will be provided for all volunteer positions such as tax preparer, greeter, savings promoter, and client intake specialist. Financial Workshop for the Community Financial Past, Present, and Future. This workshop will be designed to help the community to look at their financial past (debt and credit repair), their financial present (A look at what can people do today in the current economic recession. What to do with your tax refund, how to plan & budget for 2009, what tax shelters should you be considering to protect your money.), and their financial future (How to plan for retirement or how to protect your retirement (IRA/401K); How to purchase a house; What is an appropriate savings & investment strategy).
