Recognizing educational achievement and encouraging the contribution of academic pursuits is one of the primary objectives of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. The Washington DC Alumnae Chapter’s (WDCAC) annual scholarship program recognizes graduating high school students from Washington, D.C. and prior WDCAC scholarship recipients who display academic excellence, community service, leadership skills, and/or financial need, and who choose to attend an institution of higher learning.
The Scholarship Committee administers the scholarship program for the WDCAC, which includes implementing and distributing applications to public, private, charter, and parochial high school seniors in Washington D.C.; as well as, recommending students for the chapter’s scholarships.
During our Public Meeting in May 2013 we awarded new and continuing scholarships ranging from $500 to $3,000. We also awarded four trunk scholarships which consisted of items such as towels, sheets, iron, alarm clock, and toiletry items that students will need when they begin college.
The WDCAC offers the following scholarships:
Δ WDCAC 2014 Scholarship Application ~ Students who attend a Washington, D.C. public, private, charter, or parochial high school and are seniors graduating in 2014.
Δ WDCAC 2014 Continuing Student Scholarship Application ~ Students who were previous WDCAC Scholarship Committee recipients and are currently enrolled at an accredited community college or a four-year university/college as a full-time undergraduate student
Scholarship winners will be notified in April and will be presented their award at our Public Meeting held in May.
All application packages must be received by March 15, 2014
